All Educators want to help their students excel in life, and with the ever-changing dynamics of the world we live in, education that was good enough 50 years a go doesn’t cut it for students today. Over the years it has become evident that it is important to incorporate other aspects in to education in order to provide students with all round development.
Educators unanimously came together to define a clear framework that determined the most important skills needed for students to succeed in life. This framework was commonly known as the ‘Four C’s’.
What are the 4 C’s?
- Critical Thinking
However, with time and further evaluation two more factors were added to the framework. Making it the 6 C’s. These include:
An Overview of the C’s
Critical Thinking: Equips students to manage, process, and evaluate information. Critical thinking and problem solving is the ability process information and put it to use to create solutions.
Communication: Provides students a means to effectively and efficiently present information. Communication skills allow one to be clear and concise while presenting/communicating information in a meaningful manner.
*Collaboration: *Collaboration engages students in the world they share through association. It builds a platform for teamwork, partnership, leadership, and assistance that serves for the benefit for everyone.
*Creativity: *Creative thinking and expression provides an outlet for imagination. It also refers to the ability to create new things, ideas, solutions, etc. with the knowledge acquired till now.
*Culture: *Knowledge about culture encourages students to understand their roots, and appreciate where we have come from. It also educates them about all that surrounds them like: art, dance, poetry, history, science, religion, language, technology, and themselves.
*Connectivity: *Connections are important for students to understand. With technology making our lives simpler, one must not forget that connections are personal.
